About Apple Tree Medical

For the surgery and clinic times of individual doctors or nurses, speak to one of the reception staff.

Practice Philosophy
Our surgery ethos is to care for patients and to treat people the way that we would hope for members of our own family to be looked after. We aim to provide the best possible, modern patient care with compassion and empathy. We also aim to ensure that everyone in the practice team enjoys their work.

We encourage staff to attend regular training events and we like to promote open and honest communication.

Awards and other achievements
The surgery received a number of awards from Gedling Primary Care Trust, including Best Overall Team and Practice Development Award (for the maternity pack devised by Dr James).

We were one of 4 practices short-listed for one of the Local Medical Committee, Practice Excellence Awards (Nottingham-wide), which was part of the national celebration of the 60th anniversary of the NHS.

The practice was chosen by Nottinghamshire County PCT to be the surgery featured in a major article on the Influenza Vaccination Campaign in the Nottingham Evening Post (Friday 16th October 2009).

Your health care staff play a vital and central role in the running of the practice and will assist you in using the medical and nursing services that we provide. During busy periods (especially in winter months), our staff work under immense pressures and we thank you for your patience if you experience delays.

We are a rural teaching family practice and we aim to offer up-to-date and modern medical care in a traditional setting. The surgery has been part of the Burton Joyce community for a number of generations and many patients have been with us for 50 years or more.

Dr Shetty and James (who are husband and wife) joined the practice in 1998 (after one of the previous doctors retired) and the surgery moved to its modern premises in 2000 and has grown since then. In 2004, the practice won three awards from our primary care trust (Gedling PCT with which it has strong links) including the Overall Practice Award.

We strongly encourage preventive medicine through heart-risk reduction and diabetic clinics (Dr Shetty), women’s healthcare (Dr James), cytology, children’s vaccinations, antenatal care and over 75 screening. If you have any comments, complaints or suggestions regarding the practice please contact the Practice Manager in person or by writing and she will investigate and respond to you within 14 working days.
